The Outcome (for Mayren)

The struggle was titanic. The earth shook, the air was rent with screams of agony, and wildlife ran to higher ground. At times, both of the gloved gladiators stood and gasped for air for a moment, then returned to the fight with renewed vigor. When two elemental forces such as these collide, there are rarely any survivors...

The long awaited handball match between Flynn and HSBP took place Tuesday at the Half-Acre Gym on the campus of the University of Wyoming. Flynn put up a valiant effort, but the Black Pope successfully defended his winning streak. His Sinfulness remains undefeated in singles in 2007.

In keeping with tradition, Flynn did take a nasty turn-around shot DIRECTLY IN THE EYE. It was so hard that after hitting him with a loud crack, it bounced all the way to the ceiling! Luckily he was wearing goggles this time, and although it was scary for a second, he was fine.

Friday afternoon, His Sinfulness faces off with Vanilla Fresh, and anyone else who wants to have a go. Are you the one who can end his winning streak?

Do ya feel lucky, punk? Well, do ya?

Oh if only I was in the same time zone I would challenge you and...probably end up in the hospital. But it would be good for a laugh!

Not that anyone's laughing at Flynn, of course.

I'll take you on if you agree to a one hand handicap.

I second that with WNG. I'd be the loser but i'd give it a helluva go.

I love hearing about the handball matches. Firstly there is the subculture of the college students of Laramie - then the Flock and Flock Hall - THEN on top of that you throw in handball.... it's like a TV mini-series waiting to happen. It would get better ratings than half the stuff on these days.

We would make a good HBO special, too much booze and sex for Fox...

As for handball it was epic, I feel that I am close to winning a set now (once I shake my vacations rust off). Especially now that I know my glasses will protect me from attempted blinding, which I have come to believe is in fact a strategy of the Pope's.

I don't intentionally aim for anyone... but I will admit that the intimidation factor is helpful. Every time I take a turn around off the back wall, all you guys wince, duck, and/or cover your nads. It just makes it that much harder for you to return my shots. :)

Ouchies in the Heads are bad. either one. I can't beleive that Linus would ever aim for those sensitive areas. Never. He's a kinder more gentler Pope right?

Where's Raksha when I need her to give me the scoop on the HSBP's handball etiquette. I mean she would have the low down right?
(specially being short)

This punk was feeling lucky I guess. Win streak snapped! ;)

Uh, no - one game does not a match make. We have to play the rest of the best of three before you get to brag.
:)

Well that wasn't specfied in the post. But we will continue the match. If the games are as instense as the first, it will be a blast regardless of outcome.

I'm just going by US Handball Rules...
"Rule 1.5 Game, match, tiebreaker. A match is won by the first side winning two games."

Of course, we are more hardcore than the rules call for because it goes on to say, "The first two games of a match are played to 21 points. In the event each side wins a game, a tiebreaker is played to 11 points."

So techincally, that third game should only be to 11, but we always play it out to 21... 'cuz that's how we roll.

NOOOOO!!!! *Mayren flails her arms about*
HS just fractured my pristine view of him. I never knew that HSBP is a rules lawyer. This on top of being very prescriptivist sincerely leaves me actually Abashed. How can one be so structured yet still be enlightened? *Boggles at the thought*

HSBP's excerpt being boggled at:

"I'm just going by US Handball Rules...
[Rule 1.5 Game, match, tiebreaker. A match is won by the first side winning two games.]"

I must confess; I am a MAJOR rules lawyer. However, in my defense, I am more interested in playing by the rules than in winning. I frequently argue for rules that are harmful to my game - like the time I realized that my wicked three-wall serve was actually illegal. It has cost me a lot of points since then, but I enjoy my victories more for the knowledge that I won BY THE RULES.

Ok. Your just crazy about fairness and equalness. That's actually very enlightened. One of your sub-titles should be "The Harbinger of Balance". That would be ok, AND it would make for a brand new outfit change to the HSBP Action Figure. It would go well with the "Smiting Motorola" grip.

I am relieved... you can't have your #1 Fangirl disappointed in you!

It would be cool to see your relief that you cause no disappointment, except that I'm not that important in the grand scheme of things. It was very sweet of you to say though.
