Museum Goes the Way of the Dinosaurs

Budget cuts hit the UW Geology Museum.

Although no one is making emotional films about it, they also closed the Graduate School Office. There is still a Graduate Program, but no staff to administer it...

Word. And the Wellness Center. And there's no book budget for the library. But hey, the football players have a new practice field!! That will help I'm sure. That's what I come to college for.

Hi! as to the Grad School - Guess who got to absorb the bulk of the GA work and processes along with all of their accounts????? So there is at least one lonely soul who is administering the GA process at least!!! :)

I knew that the work would fall back on Fin Aid and the departmental secretaries... I don't suppose you got a raise for the extra work, did you?
:/

Ducky: I'm so glad to know that our university has it's priorities straight. I mean, how can books (without pictures!) compare to the transitory glory of a sadistic and ultimately pointless wrestling match over a ball?

Tammy: As a Graduate student, I apologize for making your life harder. You deserve a piece of cake or sugary item of your choice.

His Sinfulness: Hi!

This is sad and ridiculous. I heard a short debate about it on NPR (lunchtime is very limited in time to listen to the radio), where someone was justifying leaving plenty of money for the football team because that's how revenue is generated. But hello, we are a college, students paying to come here and learn and have opportunities to expand our horizons, etc. How can we do that without new books (WHAT THE HELL, seriously, who doesn't BUY BOOKS at a college???) And yet it seems like no one listens to us.

This was a terrible comment (sorry, it makes no sense), and a simple, yet sad video. Do you know who made it? Damn.

The maker's name is Chris Hume. His site can be found here.

Oooohhhh - I DO like sugary items!!! :) And no HSBP, no raise with the extra duties - and since they simply sent every member of the Grad School home one day - there has been no history of how things were done, so winging it, flying by the seat of my pants, you name it...

And the full duties of the Grad students have come to me alone, as we are currently without a Hathaway Specialist as well, with no word as to whether we will get to fill the position - Interested in your old job back Linus???? ;)

No Hathaway coordinator? Wow - I *am* out of the loop...

Linus, someone in my local paper (letter to the editor), called evolution a "pagan religion." That's all.
