Udu Sound Check

This was a test to see if the microphone in my little video recorder would pick up the low tones of the udu. It does, but the quality of the speakers really makes a difference in playback. If you can't hear the deep "duoom" sound then try listening to it with headphones. Kind of cool, but still very different from hearing it in person.

The rhythm I'm playing around with is called chiftetelly - it's a common bellydance beat.

The sound is great with the headphones. I didn't know it was a belly-dance rhythm - I would have gotten out my transparent harem pants...

Once I get an internal mic for the drum and record it with my MacBook instead of with the camera mic it will sound a lot better. :)

I've been spreading your youtube over my FB friends. One of whom actually does traditional, accurate and more bellydancing etc. i think you rock as usual.
