It has become a tradition around here for me to rant on the 4th of July about the fallacy of patriotism, the illusory divisions that nationalism creates, and the horrific way that our standard of living burns up the planet using brown and yellow people as kindling... but you're all smart people, right? You don't need to hear all that again, do you? (If you do want to hear all that again, click here and here. And read the comments here, too.)
Instead, we are going to focus on the good things about the 4th... like beer, grilling, pretty girls in not much clothing, and lights in the sky...

Love the photo. :) Hope you had a good one!
Are those fireworks or jellyfish? Sorry, that could just be the "grass" talking. ;)
oooo pretty
ok i thought i could leave well enough alone but I cannot.
I find your post's tone condescending "but you're all smart people, right?".
I do however understand that that if I don't like it - then i don't have to read it, so I will stop complaining now.
How is it condescending to call you all smart people? We all know how poorly our country treats the rest of the world - why go over it again?
Honestly I would LOVE to actually talk to you sometime Linus. I think you have a great mind and it would be interesting to discuss different theories and world politcs with you. The basic tour of duty in Waxing Philosophical 101 would be neat.
Hope you had a great BBQ by the way :) *hugs*
